This performance, which took place on 4 January 2011 at the outcome a month-long residency at the Gershwin Hotel in New York, was conceived as a live art event inspired by pictorial and sculptural representations of the Annunciation in New York museums and art galleries. It unfolded in a series of silent tableaux vivants focusing in turn on each of the five successive spiritual and mental states that medieval and Renaissance preachers distinguished in the miniature drama of the Annunciation: Disquiet, Reflection, Enquiry, Submission and Merit.
